It’s getting colder outside and like many others, you are no doubt already feeling the financial strain of a precarious year, Christmas having been hot on your heels and the ever rising cost of heating your home a strain as we move into the full force of winter.
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could ensure your hard earned cash wasn’t just flying out of the gaps in the window seals? How do you heat your home without just cranking up the heaters and emptying your bank account topping of the tariff; especially if you are in a rented property?
It can be hard at the best of times to get landlords to make those big investments that would improve living costs, such as switching from storage heating to something a little more economical, especially if they are still in working order. But that doesn’t mean you have to suffer cold feet either.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with stationery and books. Let’s face it, I’m a writer and you can’t spend all day bashing away at a keyboard without going slightly crazy. I personally love the aesthetic and tactile experience and nostalgia of writing on paper and am an avid planner, paper-crafter, and pen paller, so when it comes to stationery – I’m a bit of an addict.
As you can imagine, buying piles of planner and stationery supplies can get quite expensive. Not to mention bulk buying can have a negative effect on one’s ability to enjoy said products in an orderly fashion.
With that in mind, I have decided to start a book and stationery subscription box mini-series on my YouTube channel. Within this series, I will be purchasing the odd subscription box from various retailers, seeking the best value and quality, and taking my viewers along on my creative journey via unboxing videos.
With potential lockdown on the brink of possibility, I know a lot of people are starting to panic as to how they can remain social, keep up their spirits and most importantly, keeping the kids entertained whilst shut indoors.

As you can probably guess I’ve been absent from the blogosphere for a while, mainly due to being rather poorly during my pregnancy. It’s not been an easy ride by far with issues from start to finish; including having a negative blood type, to having hyperemesis gravidarum that lasted 35 weeks, threatening miscarriage, a dislodge pelvis and finally preeclampsia.
And let’s not even speak about all the other delights that go along with being pregnant in general such as extreme fatigue and the fact that your get up and go has got up and gone.
So no – I have not been my usual productive self, and my writing has suffered for it.
But it is all worth it. I know its cliche but it’s true. Having a baby is by far and without doubt the best thing I have ever done. And I cannot express my thankfulness to my darling husband for helping me to bring our little miracle into the world.Read More »
With all the daily bustle and grind we put ourselves through; the thankless tasks, the hardships no one else sees, the constant nagging feeling of having something else to do…it can be hard to focus when life gets busy or rush. But when we have an overwhelmingly long list of tasks and commitments, we must also remember to take a little time to stop and celebrate the wins in life.
Admit it! How often do you throw your hands up in the air, jump up and down and scream at the top of your lungs ‘I got the kids to bed on time!‘. Probably never. At the beginning of October, I was fortunate enough to read a wonderfully inspiring blog post by the lovely Juhi of Assorted Cognition. In her post, she spoke about the final three months of the year being an opportunity to catch up on your goals and keep going by finding new ones.
Inspired by this she went on to say that she would be attempting a month-long challenge in October. And the challenge?
Have you ever felt as though your life just isn’t good enough? Do you wake up in the morning unhappy and then go to bed again in the evening fearing that tomorrow will be the same?
That’s an awful way to live life…
But it is also a sad reality for a lot of people. I know, I was one of them.
At the worst stages of my depression, I just wanted it to end. For everything to just disappear; for the screen to go blank, rest a moment, and for someone to then turn it back on with a different picture.
Sounds simplistic and dumb right?

I can remember a long time ago at my old primary school, in the dusty library going over and over my reading with the librarian due to my dyslexia and getting nowhere. One fine summers day when the other students were enjoying PE I was once again stuck in the library trying my hardest to make progress with the gobbledygook letters before me.
